We’re ready?

Baddeck

By one means or another everyone has made it to the resort on Sunday. Some of us spent time in the pool, others unwound in their own ways. A wonderful meal at the Freight Shed – a local fast-food place 😏, a walk back and everyone wants to call it a day.

Here we go!

Linda sees us off after a bit of drama with Anne’s valve stem (can’t wait to see the video at the end of the driveway) and we’re on our way with the rain holding off.

There’s a mixture of anxiety and excitement in the group; I want to take in the sights, pace myself, enjoy the descents and watch everyone in the group as we approach our big challenge.

East coast hospitality

Lunch at Clucking Hen showed us just how incredibly kind the inhabitants are on the island. Our water bottles were filled as we ate and our server was so out to please. Was anyone thinking about what lay ahead? Okay maybe most of us?

Holy Smokey

When the carved-out road in the mountain appeared it was more than ominous looking. I thought “how are we going to get there in such a short distance?”. Dan and I got the answer to that very quickly.

Now we’re coasting to Castle Rock for the night soon to be followed by a “five-minute” walk to dinner. You’ll note a theme now where none of us has anything left and we’re simply pining for our beds.
