Windows, no pane

Roger’s looking for a bit of help replacing a window at the cabin. He’s been working on a project to improve the climate in the basement of said cabin including insulation, damp proofing and these amazing windows from Poland (which have been in his garage since I’ve met him).

Here’s the completed side of the project opposite from our job:

Roger does nothing half-assed.

Step one

Remove the old ‘board and batten’ from the foundation wall. This we did upon arrival, fueled by many Suzy Q doughnuts. I’m only beginning to grasp how meticulous Roger is as I’m scrutinized on my staple removal, nail sorting and recovery.

Step two (day two)

The old window is larger than its replacement. So we measure once and… the window doesn’t fit: cut twice.

A two-hour setback and we’re on track.

Summary

The window is installed, spray foamed in and taped up. Roger has the most sophisticated tapes you’ve ever seen (he got them through Columbia House 😏)

Ready for Maggie to continue digging I’m told.
